Understanding UAE visit visas can become confusing when document requirements for different visas are presented as one universal checklist. Bank statements and academic qualifications both appear in the country’s immigration framework, but travellers need to check which visa category those requirements belong to.

A review of the sources below does not establish a newly announced rule requiring every tourist to submit both documents.

UAE visit visas: when is a bank statement required?

Dubai’s General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs explicitly lists six months of bank statements for the five-year multiple-entry tourist visa. Applicants must demonstrate a bank balance of US$4,000, or its equivalent in another currency, over the six months preceding their application.

The published checklist also includes a personal photograph, a passport valid for at least six months, health insurance and a round-trip ticket. An academic qualification is not listed among the standard requirements on that service page. These conditions relate specifically to the five-year visa. GDRFA Dubai’s published requirements.

Where does the degree requirement apply?

The rules for a visit visa to explore job opportunities include a minimum educational qualification of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, alongside professional or recent-graduate eligibility criteria and a prescribed financial guarantee.

That is a separate purpose of travel. A requirement attached to a job-exploration visa should not automatically be presented as a requirement for an ordinary holiday. Executive regulation, Articles 20–21.

ICP announced four additional visit-visa purposes and amendments to existing categories on September 29, 2025. Those changes included provisions for artificial intelligence specialists, entertainment, events and tourism by cruise ships and leisure boats. That announcement should not be described as an October 2026 introduction. ICP’s announcement.

For applicants, the practical first step is to establish the exact visa name, purpose and issuing authority. If an agent requests additional paperwork, ask which category or application-specific requirement it relates to. A precise checklist is more useful than a headline suggesting every visitor faces the same conditions.
